Learn to Dance the Tango
The Tango is a dance about style. Learning the basic steps is only half of it - holding yourself in that angular Tango manner and then moving around the dance floor with the amazing Tango poise has to be seen to be fully appreciated. When you can do it yourself you will be in seventh heaven! I can’t say I have yet mastered Tango: it is a dance I am always learning. But I can move round the floor using surprisingly few basic steps, which I and my partner string together as required: forwards here, veering round there, turning come the end of the room (or people in the way). Many dancers stay by the side of the dance floor when the Tango plays, so it is all the more satisfying to learn a few relatively simple steps, and then enjoy all the space they’ve left - not to mention their admiring glances! It’s a dance that repays practice, and if you can do some at home you will be well ahead of the pack, and well on the way to enjoying yourself in the ballroom. You can easily teach yourself to dance Tango using a quality video guide. I would recommend Louis van Amstel's dance course for its clarity and enthusiasm, and because it's available online you can download it now. | |||
